Having finished my MSc in Computer Science at the University of Zurich in 2016, I worked researcher and teaching assistant in Switzerland and Japan. Now, I'm working as a teacher at a Swiss vocational college, and am looking to advance my career as an educator.
Teaching to young adults aged 14 to 20 a variety of courses, such as advanced networking, introduction to programming in C#, web application development and, particularly engaging, an Arduino tinkering class. Furthermore, I am responsible for the development of new teaching materials for a NoSQL and machine learning course.
Upon returning from Japan, I worked as a research assistant at the OntoGene group; programming in python to improve our entity recognition pipeline and working on a series of research projects while also assisting in teaching.
In a collaboration with five Swiss hospitals worked on digitally processing patient reports to infer new adverse drug effects. In this project I was both responsible for the technical as well as the administrative and legal aspects.
Worked as a teaching assistant for introductory courses in information extraction and XML, holding the occasional lecture and designing exercises. Working on each course in consecutive years allowed me to adapt the course to the needs of the students.
Through a research grant issued by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science and building on my previous involvement with the OntoGene group, I got a chance to become a visiting researcher at DBCLS working on various text mining projects, such as PubAnnotation.

Teaching the Software Engineering course in two consecutive years, including coaching of students with their programming projects and restructuring the course.
Sentiment shift towards concepts of "war", "technology" and "art" between 1900 and 1925 based on the entire corpus of publications of a Swiss newspaper.
The bachelor course was offered jointly by UZH and ETH, and provided me with a strong basis in Computer Science, including some computer graphics, and an overview of the field of neuroinformatics.
Apart from the usual hobbies and sports to maintain a healthy perspective on life, I engage in the following activities that bear some relevance to my professional life.
I enjoy studying languages and their cultures. Having lived in Australia for one year in 2014 and having finished my Swiss Matura bilingually, I have managed to attain a fairly solid command of the English language. Furthermore, I have a conversational level (A2) in Japanese, Spanish, Dutch, Italian and French.
During my Bachelor studies I volunteered at Nightline Zürich, a telephone service for students feel overwhelmed by their situation in regards to their studies or life in general.
I have been practising my karate for over 20 years, and have attained my black belt in 2008. Particularly rewarding was my job as a trainer of a children's class. Since then I started to practise Wing Chun, and teach students at the university.
